Oh, my soulOh, how you worryOh, how you’re weary, from fearing you lost controlThis was the one thing, you didn’t see comingAnd no one would blame you, thoughIf you cried in privateIf you tried to hide it away, so no one knowsNo one will see, if you stop believing Oh, my soulYou are not aloneThere’s a place where fear has to face the God you knowOne more day, He will make a wayLet Him show you how, you can lay this down‘Cause you’re not alone Here and nowYou can be honestI won’t try to promise that someday it all works out‘Cause this is the valleyAnd even now, He is breathing…

November 14th to November 20th
I was so excited to see this beautiful maple tree with the sun setting behind it while sitting and studying recently. It got me thinking, though — the tree had to lose all of its leaves, all of its beauty, in preparation for one of the harshest weather changes of the year: winter. After winter, though, the tree is rejuvenated and refreshed, ready for another batch of lush leaves. This was an interesting reminder for me that the hardships we endure are not the end of the story. God will walk beside us, working with us, in us, and through us. That is the beauty of the situation. The beauty…

October 24th to October 30th
I am out of words this week, and I do not know how to elaborate upon this valuable concept. I know it is important to remember that God is in control, so I wanted to remind you that he has a plan, even when it feels like we are surrounded by darkness. I think the best way to do that this week is to share some verses with you. Please, enjoy these verses of encouragement about God overcoming the power of darkness. He is in control! Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have…

Weekly Challenge – October 24, 2021
As I am sure it is evident by now, change is a part of life. For so many different reasons, God moves us through different situations during our walk with him. It is a great way of deepening our relationship with God, if we chose to take our struggles to him. Ultimately, though, why wouldn’t we? Here’s what I mean: If I know that God is in control, and if I know God can see beyond the bounds of time, then wouldn’t I want him to guide my life because he can fulfill a perfect plan, knowing every step of the way what will happen thirteen days, weeks, months, years…

Weekly Challenge – October 17, 2021
I apologize for the delay this week. So much has been changing and on my mind as I continue through the month of October. I find great comfort knowing God is in control of everything. Sometimes, though, it is hard to remember that our Savior holds the world. Sometimes, I want to be in control. I think my desire for control comes not from a false assumption that my plans are better than God’s plans, but the false assumption that my timing is better than God’s timing. I get stuck in the lie that I should be willing to sacrifice God’s perfect plan for my own, if I can have…

October 17th to October 23rd
Yesterday, I went boating with my family, and it started to downpour on the river! It was so much fun, and rather humorous, to see the water filling the boat from the rain! After this, though, the most beautiful rainbow appeared in the cloudy sky! Its painted color stripped elegantly across the sky reminded me that God is truly in control! I find it ironic and completely God’s provision that, during the year that we are all saying we are struggling the most, God is showing us the most rainbows I can remember in a lifetime! We cannot forget that God is in control! Beyond just rainbows, though, I absolutely…

Weekly Challenge – October 3, 2021
“Enjoy the little things.” It’s a phrase so cliche, it has hardly any meaning anymore. Unfortunately, especially in a world with technology constantly at our fingertips, offering us endless knowledge, we miss the small, enjoyable moments in our lives that God gave to us as a fulfilling, breathtaking, satisfying, relaxing relief from the normal chaos. Don’t worry about “enjoying the little things”, but, rather, enjoy all things. The book The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom is such an inspiration to me, especially while she was in the concentration camps with her sister, Betsy. I remember one passage in the book, in particular, speaking about being thankful for everything. While…

October 3rd to October 9th
So often, we forget that our God is living and active! I think we get so consumed with ourselves, our own lives, that we forget the God that gave us these blessings. If we were truly to take a step back and realize what God provides for us each day, I have full confidence we would be thrown in awe! Who provides the air you breathe? Who provides the ground you walk on? Who provides the people you love? Who provides the money you need? Who provides the food in your pantry? Who provides your car to get you from point A to point B? Who provides your clothes to…

September 26th to October 2nd
Recently, I had a conversation with someone regarding talents and skill-sets. It made me really think for a few moments. God gave each person a very unique set of skills to fulfill the plan that he has set for them. I think that, oftentimes, we are self-degrading. We look at our talents, our skills, and our fortes as less important than the people around us. We long for the abilities of our friends, family or neighbors. We forget, though, that God gave us each the skill we need to fulfill the plan he has for us. He has a plan for our neighbor, and that requires the skills he gave…

Weekly Challenge – September 26, 2021
As I continue to explore the world of college, I am learning something new each day. Whether it is how to calculate the sum of three vectors graphically, the meaning of life from a Biblical perspective, or the different outlooks people have on why we exist, God is continuously shaping my faith in his truth. One thing is for certain, however. So many people have been asking me why I believe what I believe. Yes, some people have asked in a mocking manner, but others have asked out of legitimate curiosity. This world needs to hear the gospel message! I am continuously reminded of the passage from 1 Peter: Now…
