Life is overwhelming. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I am 100% incapable of navigating this crazy roller coaster that we call “life”. I just cannot do it. No matter how hard I try, I fail, and I fail miserably, at that. It can be really discouraging to get up again and again to only fall back down. It doesn’t matter what I do differently. I just cannot manage life. There is too much to manage all at once.
This is such a beautiful place to be, though. When I am completely, utterly helpless, it forces me to turn to the God that I should have had at the forefront of my mind regardless of my situations. God is working. I so easily forget that he is working. Not only is he working, but he is moving, living, and active! Read that again: our God is moving! Our God is living! Our God is active! Why do we worry about the surrounding circumstances?
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
Matthew 10:28-31; English Standard Version; Crossway, Student Study Bible
This week, trust your Father in heaven. He cares about you. My dad was talking about this this morning, and made such a wonderful point. He said that God even cares about the details in our lives that we couldn’t care less about. Do you care about the hairs on your head? Do you realize that your heavenly Father does? He loves you. Trust him.
